Today, we officially handed over the beekeeping equipment and materials at GVHs Dokotala and Nkupu in Chiradzulu district.
This follows the successful completion of the beekeeping trainings to the clubs established in these areas.
In his sentiments, TA Mpama who presided over the official ceremony at GVH Dokotala applauded CURE for the donation but was also quick to remind the beneficiaries of the need to put the materials and equipment to good use.
“This is a good gesture by CURE and surely our community will benefit from this… however it is also imperative that we as owners of these materials ensure that we do more to ensure that we still benefit even after this project phases out” the traditional custodian echoed.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Vice Chairperson for Dokotala Village Natural Resource Management Committee said; “We have been trained and on how to use the equipment and committee members, we will ensure that all communities are encouraged to participate so that the benefits are shared and sustainable”
Among the equipment and materials that are been provided, include 60 top-bar beehives and accessories such as bee suits, gumboots, smokers, pails.
This is part of deriving increased and sustainable livelihoods and incomes for climate change resilienceinside the Restoration of Chiradzulu Forest reserve project being Funded by IKI Small Grants Program.
