Communication, Documentation and Networking

CURE has positioned itself as a credible apex NGO for environmental issues and initiatives in Malawi. It maintains strong ties with both the local and international NGO community, collaborating with various government departments in Environment and Natural Resource Management.

At the national level, CURE is a member of the Mudi Dam Catchment Authority, Global Environment Facility national platform, Civil Society Network on Climate Change (CISONECC), technical working group on enabler environment sustainability under the National Planning Commission, and the Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority Customer Consumer Forum Committee.

CURE has cultivated rich linkages with regional and international networks such as the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), SADC, International Pollutants Elimination Networks (IPEN), Forest Action Network, United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, and The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.

This robust networking makes CURE a hub for information flow, capacity building, and training in participatory development approaches to foster sound community-based natural resource management in Malawi. Given the projected increase in frequency and severity of extreme weather events in Malawi, coupled with high rates of deforestation and land degradation, CURE plays a crucial role in addressing climate-related risks and promoting sustainable resource management.
